With these shop utility CNC plans, you will be able to make a functional shop utility cart!
How much plywood do I need to make this project:
To complete this project you will need one and a half 4’x8’ sheets of 1/2” thick (my actual thickness was .474”) Oak Plywood cut to the following sizes - 2 – 29” wide x 45.5” high, 1 - 29” wide x 47” high, 1 – 38” wide x 47” high and 1 – 38” wide x 24” high.This is an awesome project to see come together from flat cut parts to a fully functional shop utility cart and it looks incredible!
This project filled a great need in my shop to carry all the things I need for a specific project around the shop. The largest single piece needing to be cut is 27” wide x 44” high. If needed, you could also edit the design and cut the panels into smaller parts to fit on a smaller machine, but that is not done for you in these plans. The final assembled dimensions of the cart are 44” long x 22” wide x 27” high, not including the height of the casters. The entire project is held together using screws, this provides a very strong connection.
Glue and clamps can be used instead of screws to assemble everything, however with the dog boned corners, glue is likely to squeeze out and it would be very difficult to clean up, so that’s why I opted to use screws. Included with the plans are very detailed assembly instructions as well as some tips on making projects like this on the CNC.
